WALL COATINGS
A1 Home Protection - Wall coating and brickwork protection - Waterproofing your home

Wall coating & brick work protection

A1 Home Protection will undertake any pointing or render repairs before the coating of your walls commences, algai growth or swalt damage will also be dealt with.

A1 Home Protection then offer two different Wall Coating options which are both high quality products manufactured by ProPERLA®. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.

The invisible insulation barrier

This is designed with brick faced properties in mind.

ProPERLA® Masonry Creme.

A surface treated with ProPERLA® Masonry Creme will INSULATE mineral building materials by reducing water absorption. The lifespan of a treatment is more than 20 years. The product chemically bonds to the surface, can penetrate up to 17mm and will create an insulation barrier.

Highlights & properties

Improves the thermal efficiency of the masonry by keeping it dry

Maintains the thermal properties of cavity wall insulation

Reduces heat loss

Prevents and cures damp

Offers a self cleaning surface

Maintains the original masonry finish

Slow ageing or breakdown of the surface

Will allow the building to breath

Clear insulation barrier for + 20 years

Proven performance

Tested and certified to standards that the product penetrates deep into the substrate, creating an INVISIBLE INSULATION BARRIER that reduces water absorption by more than 95%. ProPERLA® Masonry Creme has been tested according to EN ISO 15148:2002, demonstrating its hygrothermal performance on concrete, mortar, brick and sandstone.

Facade coating with extreme beading behaviour – the ultimate weather protection

Proven performance

This is designed with render faced properties in mind.

Coatings incorporating silane resin technology have been available for over 25 years and are actually the fastest growing exterior coating systems in Europe, all this expertise has been combined with the latest technology, and result is impressive!

Your coated masonry will be protected against the destructive impact of the sun, wind and other weather conditions (acid rains, salt spray, smog etc) it will be weather protected and colour stable for many years.

Dirt particles are unable to gain a hold on facades coated with ProPERLA® they simply flow off with rainfall. The facade remains clean and attractive. Even on sides which are particularly exposed to the weather like north-facing side or facades in shade, as well as in areas with high air humidity or with sea salt penetrated air.

Properla® facade coating is a unique treatment technology. it creates self cleaning and super hydrophobic facades, without affecting its breathability.

Water repellent

You will recognise the excellent water repellent properties by its beading behaviour. It will make the masonry dry and extremely resistant to biological hazards, mould, mildew and algal growth. A dry masonry will improve the thermal resistance, prevent frost damage and reduce the growth of microbial spores.

Breathability

The masonry is able to breathe and will be permeable to water vapour. Air and moisture pass through from one side to the other. A breathing masonry will improve the thermal conductivity and insulation properties. Just a 5% content of damp in cavity wall insulation or other building materials can lower the thermal resistance by up to 50%.

Self cleaning efficiency

Dirt particles are unable to obtain a hold on the ProPERLA® coated facade and will simply flow off with rainfall. The facade remains clean and attractive, even on sides which are particularly exposed to the weather like on the north-facing side or facades in shade, as well as in areas with high air humidity or sea salt penetrated air.

Highlights & properties

Stops rain penetration - Extremely water repellent

Improves thermal efficiency

Will allow the building to breathe

Self cleaning like a lotus leaf

15-20 year lifespan

Can be used directly on most masonry substrates

Many colours available

Here at A1 HOME PROTECTION we will undertake pointing and render repairs prior to wall treatment leaving your walls then maintenance free for years to come!

Our wall coating process

Stage 1 – Cleaning down

Stage 1 – Cleaning Down

All surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned by either power washing or if required wire brushing. Years of grime, mould, algae and other contaminants are removed. All loosely adhered or delaminated paint work is removed. A process known as ‘needle-gunning’ may be required. This will identify any damaged render, brickwork, roughcast, pebbledash etc. A biocidal wash is then applied to eliminate any underlying spores and prohibit any further re-growth in years to come.

STAGE 2 - Masking up

STAGE 2 - Masking up

This process protects all doors, windows paths and surrounding areas that are not being treated. This is achieved by masking up with tape, heavy duty paper, polythene and dust sheets. Great care is taken to protect driveways and adjoining properties.

STAGE 3 – Restoration & Repair work

STAGE 3 – Restoration & Repair work

Damaged render and decaying brickwork is removed and all cracks are chased out. fibre reinforced, polymer-modified cements )GRC) are used for repairs to ensure a perfect bond. Previously unpainted areas such as brickwork or pebbledash then benefit from a ‘fairing’ coat with polymer-modified render to fill small air holes and soften any brick lines.

Stage 4 – Primer

Stage 4 – Primer

Primer coat has been formulated to act as a stabilising/primary coat with up to 50% 50% penetrating into the substrate and 50% forming a protective surface coating. The primer coat also stabilises the substrate, counter-acting against the alkali inherent in all walls and helps form the perfect key for the top coat. The subsequent finish/top coat bonds with the primer coat to form a bond.

STAGE 5 - Application

Stage 5 – Application

Coatings are sprayed on to surfaces using specialist heavy duty spray equipm equipment at up to 50-75psi air pressure. The complete system is up to 20 times thicker than conventional paint, the textured finish helps conceal as far as possible any repair work and dries to a beautiful, uniform finish. Following completion your property will be left in a clean and tidy condition.

Coating - before and after

Coating – Before and after

ProPERLA Masonry Crème protects walls and cavities from penetrating damp whilst allowing the walls to breathe naturally. There is no restriction on the ability of the building to allow air and moisture to escape and breathe out. ProPERLA Masonry Crème benefits from an SD (breathability rating) of 0.00 – indicating 100% full breathability.

Exterior walls and colour choices

Coating colours are available in smooth or textured finishes and come in a wide range of colour choices. See our high performance external coatings & weather proofing systems colour chart below.
